About Iceland

Prostate Cancer Charity

The Prostate Cancer Charity is the UK's leading charity in the field of prostate cancer. Each year, more than 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, making it the most common cancer in men in the UK.

The Charity was set up in 1996 and has invested over £12 million in vital medical research and supported thousands of men and their families.

Golf Event

In 2008 and 2009, Iceland held charity golf days which raised an amazing £417,322.42, the proceeds of which were shared between two of our chosen Good Causes. The Prostate Cancer Charity received over £200,000 from these events.

In November 2010 The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation was delighted to present a cheque for a further £100,000 to The Prostate Cancer Charity, raised by our Northern Ireland stores during our annual charity week in August and by our charity golf day in September.

Iceland’s annual charity golf day in 2011 was once again dedicated to The Prostate Cancer Charity and in April 2012 we were delighted to present the Charity with a further cheque for £100,000, bringing our total support over the last four years to more than £420,000.

Iceland Chief Executive Malcolm Walker said: “It isn’t just mums who go to Iceland, and we are delighted to continue our support for the excellent work that The Prostate Cancer Charity does for those suffering from the most common cancer among men in the UK: providing information, offering support to those diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families, and funding research into the causes, treatment and prevention of the disease.”

Iceland has also undertaken other initiatives to help raise awareness of prostate cancer, including the sale of fridge magnets through our stores in the run-up to Father’s Day 2009.
